Colony Things to Do

The district provides Federal and State pre-school programs at seven
school sites: Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin, Horace Mann, Patrick
Henry, Paul Revere, James Madison, Palm Lane and John Marshall
schools. Participants must be qualified according to income guidelines.
Children must be four years old by December 2, 2001, to attend school from
September to June.

Disney GOALS is a multi-service organization that involves underserved
youth in select Anaheim neighborhoods. GOALS after school activities
include mandatory academics each week, weekly ice hockey at Disney ICE
and periodic community service where GOALS participants help others in
the community. In the past year, more than 1,800 local youth participated
in GOALS activities.

In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together.
Through many enriching experiences, girls from 5 to 17 grow strong in
body, mind and spirit. The Girl Scout experience provides a wide variety of
opportunities that help each girl reach her full potential. Girls develop
life-long values, learn to relate to others with respect and become
successful contributing members of their communities. Adult volunteers
are role models to girls.

The Youth Employment Service assists young people between 14 and 22 in
job readiness, job placement and follow-up on job performance with
employers. The Service also works with local employers to develop jobs for
youths.
